All of the PTA activities are run through committees. Each committee has a chairperson who
you can contact to volunteer or find out more information. Sign up sheets are currently posted on the Bulletin Board
at school - take a look and sign up!
The following is a listing & brief description of the various PTA activites that we
need volunteers for:
Birthday Lunch: Each month during the lunch period, the birthdays for that month
are celebrated at a special table in the lunch room. Each student gets to sit at the birthday table on the stage and
is treated to a cupcake and a birthday pencil. All birthdays are celebrated, even those that fall during the summer
months. We are always looking for parents to donate cupcakes for this event.
Box Tops for Education: Twice during the school year, box tops are collected. Volunteers
are needed to help cut the box tops. The classroom with the most box tops receives an ice cream party!
Character 360: Each month the students are given a character trait (i.e. respect, responsiblity,
etc.) and are asked to write about what it means to them. Students from each grade are chosen and have their picture
taken and placed on the board.
Family Movie Nights: Families are invited to come to Peach Plains to enjoy
a movie together in the gymnasium. The movie is determined by a student vote. Popcorn is provided as well.
5th Grade Graduation: At the end of the school year, our 5th graders will be honored
at a graduation where highlights of the school year will be featured.
Fun Fridays: Five times during the school year, the students bring in items for a designated
charity. Past charities have included Love, Inc., Harbor Humane Society & Crusade for Toys. Volunteers are
always needed to help collect the donations from the classrooms on Friday mornings and transport them to the designated charity
as needed.
Food Fundraising/Corporate Fundraising: We are always looking for people to help with
our fundraising efforts.
Scholastic Book Fairs: Our very popular book fairs are a great opportunity
to purchase books at reasonable prices. Our first book fair is held during the school open house. Volunteers are
needed to help set up / take down the book fair as well as work at the book fair.
