Peach Plains PTA Meeting Minutes

Approval of January 19th, 2010 Minutes: Motion for Approval by Laurie
McManus, 2nd by Kathi Behm, all were in favor.
Principal's Report: Kate Drake
Nancy Fiore and Mary Jo Kodyker were present to represent the Peach Plains
staff.
Pennies for Peace went very well.
4th graders recently went to Lansing for a field trip.
MSU Extension Master Gardening Program - Junior Master Gardening Program is
being offered. Grades 2 - 6. Name and conact info is in the Parent Update E-Mail (2-16-10).
Professional Development Days are coming up - writers workship, one for MiBlisi
Grant.
T-shirts for 5th grade field day - color has been chosen - Peach Plains will
be gray.
Possible Fun Friday - "Health/Fitness Day" - serving fruit or something.
Jump Rope for Heart - 2 - 5 grades this year.
Treasurer's Report:
Checking Balance: $18689.33 as of 2/15/10
Savings Balance: $2010.69 as of 2/15/10
Membership Report:
Currently there are 87 PTA members.
Committee's Reports/Old Business:
Book Fair - March 8 - 12
Nominations for PTA board - no committee at this time. Kathi B will
send nomination form home with students this week.
Thaddeus Rex Assembly March 12th.
PTA Scholarship applications due by March 19th.
Pennies for Peace - about $155 collected so far, another $93 came in today.
New Business:
Girl Scouts were present tonight - 3rd graders at Peach Plains - Take Action
Project - Pet Pantry Project - Muskegon - they are collecting pet food for Fun Friday March 12th. The Brownie Troop
will make posters, gather and deliver donations, make/decorate collection boxes. Items to be collected: pet food, new
or gently used non-food items, pet cages, collars, leashes, etc.
PTA Candy Bar Fundraiser - Peach Paws is selling the candy bars. Candy
bars are $1.00. March 1st is the beginning date.
Hanging Basket sale - still on.
PTA recently purchased 2 new benches for the area by the front office as well
as a leather sofa and love seat for the quiet area by the library. $1097.37 is the total spent so far. We may
still purchase a chair and end table for the front office area.
Thank you to the Naperala family for donating the beautiful rugs to the school!
Fun Friday March 12th - charity is the Pet Pantry.
Thank you Amy Cannady for auditing the PTA books this year!
